Should I use 225/50 tires on the front of an MR2

Subject: MR2 BFG 225/50x14 on front wheels - opinions wanted

Sorry to use Announce but I need to get some new autocross tires by the end
of  the week and I would like to get opinions from others while I have time.
I would like to hear from anyone using the BFG R1 in 225/50x14 on the front
of a '91 or '92 MKII turbo or NA. Or from anyone who has any comparisions of
the 205 to the 225. I need to order new tires as soon as possible. I corded four
tires last weekend (got them all to wear out at the same time :)

I have been running the 205/55x14 on the front but am considering trying the
larger size. I have heard it will make the front turn in better but that
transitions (slaloms, etc.) will not be quite as crisp. Also, I won't be
able to dial-in as much camber with the 225 compared to the 205's due to the wider
section width. I have spacers to compensate for some of this. With my
current 205's I haven't been running as much camber as I could so it may not be a
problem. The 225's seem a bit wide for the 6 inch rims but I have seen
several MKII NA's running them with good luck.

Will the 225's generate more stress on the front end? I have the Suspension
Techniques anti-sway bar on the front and I broke a link mount on the right
strut a couple weeks ago. I'm wondering if the added grip of the 225's
will put more stress on the endlinks, mounts, etc.

Also, I have always started with full tread depth, not shaved, and have been
able to get about a year of use from a set. I put the last set on in June or
July last year so they probably have 20 to 25 events on them. This seems
to be reasonable to me. Would shaving them give me any longer wear or more
predictible handling? Or both?

Thanks in advance
